Update -

A grand jury has found enough evidence to indict Micah Moore on first-degree murder charges!

At Moore's last court appearance, his lawyer claimed the confession was all a lie and Bethany Deaton actually had killed herself.

Even more bizzare twist!  Attorneys for Micha said -- We are aware of no evidence that a crime has occurred the facts suggest Bethany Deaton’s death was an unfortunate suicide and Micah Moore had nothing to do with that suicide. Driven to the police station by representatives of his church community, Micah told a fictional account that was bizarre, nonsensical, and most importantly, untrue.  What the Hell?

Jackson County prosecutor Jean Baker now says Tyler Deaton is under investigation but has not been charged in the developing sex scandal YET...

Court records confirm that Micah Moore claims the person who gave the order to murder Bethany Deaton was her husband Tyler.

He said all of the roomates gave Bethany Seroquel before sexually assaulting her many times in the past and on the day of the murder.  Deaton’s other roomates said her husband had an angry demeanor towards Bethany before her murder. He was described as angry and frustrated. One roomate said he was confident that other members of his religious group would lie for him if he ever needed them to... One of the roomates even went so far as to say that Tyler told him that he had dreamed about suffocating Bethany to death several days before her body was found.

Police have not charged Tyler, despite his roommates’ statements to police.

Bethany Deaton's family had a funeral for her in Texas but her body is being brought back to KC.

Tyler Deaton has been questioned but not charged yet. Prosecutors say the investigation is ongoing.

Moore also stated that Tyler Deaton's sexual encounters were with several members of the group, mostly males.

Court documents also state there were multiple sex acts between the murder victim Bethany Deaton and other roommates. Also alleged homosexual acts were going on with the spiritual leader of this group Tyler Deaton.

Tyler Deaton has a blog and it has been active for several years before his wife was murdered. In there is an ominous statement of his interpretation of a family.

"Jesus said he came not to bring peace but the sword, turning family members against each other and some family connections are so potent that family members will become murderous in the hurt and anger they feel when those connections are not satisfied."

Micah Moore admitted on Friday that he killed

Bethany Deaton

Bethany's death was originally ruled a suicide. Was this a sex cult killing?

They worshiped together at the International House of Prayer aka IHOP in Grandview. IHOP was started in 1999 by Mike Bickle doing work from the alleged prophets Bob Jones and Paul Cain.  The story has taken an even more disturbing bizarre twist. Deaton lived with her husband and several male roommates, including Moore. He claims the murder was done to cover up sexual assaults that he and other roommates had been doing for many months.

International House of Prayer

Bethany was raised in Texas and moved to the Kansas City area to intern at IHOP. Deaton's husband started their own religous group and he was regarded as their spiritual leader. Roomates at the house also told detectives they were involved in a sexual group and the sex was part of the religious experience. Neighbors say there was a lot of traffic at the house and knew the group was involved in the IHOP church so they thought it was just a bible study group.

The group did worship together at the International House of Prayer, but church members say this is not indicitive of the whole church.

Bethany Deaton's body was found inside a van on Oct. 30, at Longview Lake. Near the body there was a suicide note reading -- “My name is Bethany Deaton. I chose this evil thing. I did it because I wouldn’t be a real person and what is the point of living if it is too late for that? I wish I had chosen differently a long time ago. I knew it all and refused to listen. Maybe Jesus will still save me.” Pills were also found near her body. Moore told police the horrific tale of how he went with Bethany to Longview Lake on Oct. 30 and held a plastic bag over her head "until her body shook."

Deaton said the group became afraid Bethany would tell her therapist about the abuse and the killing was to cover up the sexual exploits.

A spokesperson for IHOP confirmed Moore was a student in the Bible school at IHOP University. Bethany was 27 years old and after getting her nursing degree she married Tyler Deaton in August.
